Philip Gilmore
Counsellor
Philip works with adult individuals of all ages seeking support with stress, anxiety, phobias, relationship problems, personal growth, dilemmas, depression, lack of meaning, chronic pain,
self-esteem, anger issues, grief, vehicle accidents, trauma, complex trauma, and childhood trauma including sexual abuse.
Philip works with individuals with a highly compassionate and non-pathologising approach to counselling. Philip uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) an evidence based approach that has gained a strong reputation in the last 5 to 10 years, especially for trauma. It is a highly effective modality that helps restore a natural sense of self-trust and self-compassion.
Philip also practises EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), another non-pathologizing, evidence based, therapeutic approach, also often used with trauma. Both approaches seem to activate the psyche’s natural tendency towards healing and coherence, which helps us to unlearn ingrained behavioural patterns and negative beliefs. His long standing interest in mindfulness and meditation also inform his overall approach, alongside his training in somatic and attachment approaches to therapy.
